Joseph

Joseph is a bright and determined 12-year-old boy who has shown remarkable resilience in the face of abandonment, hardship, and uncertainty. His journey with Good Future and Hope began on May 7, 2021, when he was referred to us as a missing child in need of urgent care and protection.

Joseph lost his father at a very young age. Afterward, his mother entrusted him to his paternal relatives, who later handed him over to an aunt. Unfortunately, instead of love and care, Joseph was subjected to neglect. He was never enrolled in school but forced to work on farms and look after pigs. Eventually, he fled in search of his mother—rumored to be living near the Uganda–Tanzania border—but lost his way.

He was rescued and taken to the Mukono Police Child and Family Protection Unit, and referred to Good Future and Hope. Traumatized and fearful, Joseph slowly found healing through the dedicated support of our social workers.Today, Joseph is thriving. He is one of the top-performing students in his class and has become a joyful and hopeful child again. With access to education, psychosocial care, and a loving environment, he’s begun to dream of a better future.

Although Joseph was recently resettled with his paternal aunt, her large household of 12 people makes it difficult for her to support Joseph’s educational needs. She can only provide food and shelter, leaving the full responsibility of his schooling to Good Future and Hope.By sponsoring Joseph, you can ensure he continues his education and receives the support he needs to thrive.
