Arafat

At 15 years old, Arafat has lived through more hardship than many face in a lifetime. Born in Mpunga Village, he was raised by his father and stepmother after the loss of his biological mother. When his father became seriously ill and could no longer work, the family moved to their ancestral home in Mbale in search of better support.

While there, Arafat faced mistreatment and decided to leave in hopes of returning to Mukono. But he couldn’t find his way back. Alone and lost, he was found by a kind stranger and brought to Mukono Police Station, where his case was registered as a missing child.

From there, he was referred to Good Future and Hope, where he found shelter, daily care, and access to school for the first time in a long while. He began to settle, rebuild trust, and find the stability he needed to heal.

Sadly, not long after reconnecting with his family, Arafat’s father passed away. During the funeral, Arafat met his older sister—someone he had never known before—who stepped forward with a desire to care for him. He was reunited with her, and while living together, he continued to receive educational support through the program.

In January 2025, Arafat was withdrawn from the program due to the absence of a sponsor. He is now without access to school, and his future is uncertain.
